Join the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce for the Greater Canton 110 Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers presentation and informative overview of the potential that wind energy holds for our region. Building on our manufacturing strengths, opportunities exist to leverage our capabilities to capitalize on this expanding market. Wind turbine manufacturers are setting up plants here to fulfill orders in North America, and they need domestic support for their supply chains. Throughout region, manufacturers are successfully realigning their operations to enter into this growth sector.
The program will begin with an overview of wind energy in North America and details of Ohio’s commitment and involvement in this emerging industry. Next, a wind turbine will be dissected into key components, discussing the sectors necessary to produce those parts. The structure of the supply chain and current bottlenecks will be identified followed by a general discussion of the WINDPOWER 2009 show held in early May.
The wind turbine industry requirements plays to this region’s rich heritage and expertise in heavy industry and advanced, precision manufacturing. The Great Lakes Wind Network is working to build a new base of wind turbine component manufacturers that will grow jobs and investment throughout North America. Come and find your place in it.
