Canton breaks ground on new Federal Center

This year has been a year of collaboration for downtown Canton, with many individuals working toward the growth and strength of our community. The most recent and powerful example of this movement is the groundbreaking for the new Canton Federal Center, an initiative driven by many individuals and entities – including three mayoral administrations, Mayor Watkins, Mayor Creighton and most recently, Mayor William J. Healy II, the City of Canton, U.S. Congressman Ralph Regula, the U.S. General Services Administration, which at the inception of the project was driven by Steve Perry, current president and executive director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, along with the future tenants of the Federal Center.

The 4.5-acre Federal Center site is bound by 3rd Street SW, McKinley Ave., 5th Street SW and High Ave. SW. The two, two-story buildings will be joined by a 30-ft.-high glass enclosed lobby and will host almost 45,000 sq. feet of rentable space, dedicated to the Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Trustee Program, U.S. Marshals Service, Social Security Administ ration and the Internal Revenue Service.
