Blues in Schools program to host two performances

CANTON, OHIO (April 22, 2010) – To kick off this year’s Blues in Schools program, the Canton Regional Chamber is hosting the first public Blues in Schools performance at Old Carolina Barbecue Company (4710 Everhard Road NW in Canton) on Tuesday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. A portion of proceeds from Old Carolina’s sales during this fundraiser will benefit the Blues in Schools program.

A second Blues in Schools performance will be held in the auditorium at Kent State University at Stark (6000 Frank Avenue NW in North Canton) on Saturday, May 22 at 11 a.m. The performance is open to the public and admission and parking will be free.

ABOUT BLUES IN SCHOOLS
The Canton Regional Chamber is bringing the history and culture of the blues genre to life in our area schools through this unique instrumental program. Blues in Schools offers hands-on instruction over the course of the 14-week program, hosted at Kent State University at Stark. Thirty-one students are participating in this year’s program. Blues in Schools will culminate with the participants performing on-stage in front of thousands at the highly anticipated Canton Blues Festival in downtown Canton on Saturday, June 19.
